Payments Policy Analyst
The Opportunity
We are seeking a Payments Policy Analyst to join our Payments & Innovation team. This role offers the opportunity to work on policy issues that are shaping the future of European and international payments, supporting emerging payment technologies, digital innovation cross-border payments.
This position is ideal for candidates with up to two years of professional experience who are looking to build a career in payments, financial services policy, regulation, or public affairs.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor UK, European, and international policy, regulatory, and market developments, assessing their impact on members and the wider payments industry.
- Support the development of policy positions, consultation responses, industry papers, and thought leadership publications.
- Contribute to the delivery of the Europe and International Payments agenda through engagement with key stakeholders and industry bodies.
- Support member engagement activities, including working groups, committees, events, and bilateral meetings.
- Prepare briefing materials, presentations, reports, and meeting papers for both internal and external audiences.
- Coordinate and analyse member feedback to identify emerging priorities, opportunities, and challenges.
- Support engagement with government departments, regulators, payment system operators, and industry stakeholders.
- Contribute to member communications, newsletters, presentations, and external publications.
- Assist with strategic projects and wider Payments team initiatives as required.
Skills & Experience
Essential
- Up to two years of professional experience in policy, research, regulation, public affairs, financial services, consultancy, or a related field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to evaluate information from multiple sources and identify key insights.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong research skills and the ability to synthesise complex information into clear, structured outputs.
- Ability to understand, interpret, and communicate complex policy and regulatory issues.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
- High attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and external stakeholders.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Demonstrable interest in payments, financial services, technology, regulation, or public policy.
